New Tips and Precautions for Travelers Visiting India in 2022

India is more than just a land of more than a billion people. We are a nation of diversity. Our country has been such an important part of history and the architectural marvels are worth visiting. Therefore, we welcome millions of tourists every year to come and witness the beauty of our land, tradition, and people. Now that the COVID restrictions are lifted, there will be so many tourists who wish to travel to India.

COVID is still present. Hence, being careful is still the best approach. Here are a few tips and precautions to help your vacation be safe and fun.

Before traveling:

  1. Get double vaccinated for double benefits. One, you boost your safety against the virus. Second, most places in India will demand vaccination certificates. If a booster is available to you based on your country’s own medical guidelines, taking a booster will make you even more protected.
  2. Check if you need an RT-PCR test and how long before your travel you need one. Most states including Maharashtra in India no longer require PCR tests from many countries if you are vaccinated, but you still might need to test before leaving. Good hotels in India and especially serviced apartment hotels in Andheri like Lalco Residency can coordinate any testing requirements you may need. Some countries need rapid testing (available at the airport) or a test that is 12, 24, 48, or even 72 hours in advance.
  3. Always carry a few extra face masks and hand sanitizer.
  4. Make sure your mask is of high quality. You don’t need two masks if you have one good one. Remember social distancing is still a good idea when traveling or when in crowded spaces with people you do not know. Keep a safe gap between people to maintain social distancing. Ideally 6 feet but whatever distance you can keep would be better than no distance at all.
  5. Download your vaccination certificate and RT-PCR test results, so you always have them handy. If you are carrying physical copies, keep them in your handbag or in your pocket.
  6. Sanitize your hands after you exit the airline/airport and have a bath once you reach your house/hotel.
